Research Analyst Role transition to Consulting Role @ MBB
Hey all,
So I have been selected for the interview process for a junior research role at an MBB, but my main goal is to be in a management consulting (business analyst/consultant) role. From what I am understanding, this role is focused more on supporting the consultants with data and research. This wouldn't be a front-facing client role. Would this position be worth me getting into considering it is at an MBB, but I would just have to delay my start in that role for a year or two? Benefits/Comp wise it would be less than what I am getting at my current role (1 year out of undergrad), but it is after all at an MBB and the growth seems exponential here. Need some advice on if this is worth pursuing. Thanks in advance!

Do you see lots of people on LinkedIn who transition from that role to consulting?
My understanding is it doesn't really happen
Thats what I was thinking as well. The research role has a clear cut career path, which doesn't include client-facing consultant roles. The recruiter actually told me that she has seen it been done, but its definitely a stretch goal and out of the norm.
