Research - Pursuing a sell-side research associate position
Hello,
I am considering to pursue a sell-side research associate position in the USA. Are these positions (entry-level) typically clustered into one geographic location or are they typically found in any number of Investment Banks throughout the USA within a particular company?
They'll be 90% in NYC.
Exceptions are Tech (generally at least a few analysts on the West Coast), REITs and regional banks (analyst would be located near their coverage area), and maybe O&G (which seems split between Texas and NYC).
So for a particular firm with investment banks across the country the concentration of research associate positions would be in NYC then? Even though for a particular firm these positions are concentrated in NYC, would it be fair to assume that in every region where there is an investment bank there are research associate positions?
The reasoning for my questioning is to see the likelihood of being able to work in a particular location where there is an investment bank located within a firm.
Any insight for a newbie much appreciated.
Instead of playing a stupid guessing game. Just tell us the location you mean and odds are someone can tell you if there are research associates in that location. Otherwise, you just asked the exact question that West coast rainmaker already answered.
If I had a SB, would be +1 for you.
