Resume for FT BB S&T recruiting (need soon)

Currently doing an SA stint with a BB in Asia. Been doing very well appraisal and performance wise but I am sure most people would agree that you never know whether you will get a FT offer or not. So I decided to start writing my resume for FT recruiting. Going to apply to both Asia and NY if I dont get a returning offer

Would be great if you guys could take a look and comment on:
1) The quality of the resume
2) How my qualifications stack up with the typical FT candidate (both NY and Asia)
3) How my latest experience stack up with the typical person who went through an S&T SA stint

Appreciate any feedback ASAP and thanks in advance

Not too sure about everyone else, but I would personally:

  • Shorten the education section
  • Take out the "Creating macros in Excel...." and expand on your latest experience if you think there's anything more credible
  • Your "startup" sounds like you could expand on it a little

There just basic things, I am sure others will be able to point out a lot more specifics.

Looks very good....and yes, I would kill someone to have this resume.

"Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, for knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind. And greed, you mark my words, will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA."

This is very minor, but the fact that you expressed your major and cumulative GPAs to different significant figures leads me to assume that your cumulative GPA is actually in the 3.45-3.49 range. Ultimately, this is inconsequential, but you might want to change your major GPA from 3.71 to 3.7 just to keep the structures parallel.

UPDATE: I see now that this might just be a dividing line between the two numbers. This threw me off, try a semi-colon.

"If you can count your money, you don't have a billion dollars." - J. Paul Getty

SRB, I dont think I have more space to expand on on my latest experience, it's already taking a lot of space as it is..

arbitrage, I am a dual citizen San Franciscan, thanks for the pointer, will definitely use a semi-colon. For the record, it's 3.72 and 3.53, but I figure I dont want to nickel and dime and no one's gonna give a damn about the last digit anyway.

Thanks for the comments so far but I was hoping for something more specific on either of the three questions i raised, anything would help.

Additional questions:

  1. Career office always say "quantify your results" in the resume. It seems like I didnt even slap one number in my latest experience but I dont know where/how I would either.. Should I force some numbers in that block of text?

  2. Buddy of mine commented that my resume (especially my latest experience) is way too technical and it's a very hard read and screeners probably wont bother wasting the time/effort and just toss it. Agree?

Again, thanks

  1. Your descriptions "quantify it enough"...you only need to quantify something when it has a vague description like "oversaw budget" or "increased sales"

  2. Your friend must not have been in S&T because everything you put makes perfect sense to a trader. Also, who do you think does the screening?...alumni and analysts.

Do not change a thing..except for that GPA thing.

the part about creating excel VBA macros, fair value discontinuity, and "dirac function" nature of delta are a bit technical (Actually quite technical)

I'm not sure what your role was within the S&T team, but it sounds more like a financial engineer than a trader

unless you are applying for a very technical role, you may want to tone down the technical explanations on the resume, but i doubt it really matters since you have great work experience

on a side note, i think this resume would make illiniprogrammer cream his pants

I did three rotations, EQD Structuring, credit/rates sales, equity financing. The technical stuff obviouisly comes from structuring. Think I should take out one of the two bullet points on structuring? I did try to make my next 4 bullet points (on sales/equity financing) really soft but I guess the contrast didnt work. I dont want to be mistaken as a quant guy...
