Resume Help - Edited

Background: I finished 2 years at the University of Maryland and am transferring to a semi-target next fall. I applied to a bunch of iBanking internships but got weak responses, and was computer-denied on multiple occasions. How can I improve my resume?

Edit: Here is the most recent version of my resume.

Thanks for all your help.

Well, it's not as horrible as some that show up here. I'd say you made your education too big and compartmentalized; you should cut it down to less lines and streamline it. Expand upon your work experience, and move tutor to work experience if you have to; you got paid for it after all. Make your experience more results orientated than action orientated. everyone does things, you have to show you did them well. break up your academics achievements to draw attention to each on its own. You are a nat'l merit scholar, not on a nat'l merit scholarship. give your sat breakdown (shouldn't it be out of 2400 if you're a sophomore?)

What was the outcome of your deloitte case?

the living and learning program doesn't add any value

were you submitting online or networking? Your resume is decent, but you're going to need someone to get to know you and bother to read through the resume if you're going to break in

to add to what drex was saying, you can probably expand your attorney general's experience by least one more bullet point, since it's your only internship.

On a side note, I tried calling your number and no one picked up. Maybe that's why companies can't get back to you.

Drex - I was under the impression that most top tier unis and corps were still red-headed stepchilding the writing portion, so I stuck with 1600

Regarding the Deloitte case - did not place. People I recruited were, overall, disinterested in outcome. Could not delegate and outcome became a one-man show

Thinking of getting rid of living/learning program

Because I come from a non-target school I'm forced to try my luck online and there are few schools nearby that I can bum off of (Georgetown, but even then not really a target). I have a long winter break (~7 wks). Do any IB's offer winter internships?

Would it be better to take a general ops/finance/accounting internship offer this summer and leverage that into an IB opportunity come next summer?

Dude, are you kidding? Have you tried networking at all? I guarantee you maryland has thousands of alumni you can reach out to who can put your resume in front of HR. Here, this is a linkedin search for umd and gs - http://www.linkedin.com/search?viewCriteria=1&proposalType=Y&newnessTyp…

Contact some of them, find other contacts, and you should have a decent shot at getting something

ok, but you also slid backwards in several ways. Don't list your SAT as 1570/2320 - that implies you got 1570 out of 2320, which is a) horrible and b) ridiculous. Go with: 2320 SAT (XXX V, XXX M, XXX W), National Merit Scholar

You have a position that is not italicized when all the others are.

Under MD AG, you use "over" twice. Go with "in excess of" for one of them - probably the moneys

Ditch candidate from your degrees. Italicize them. Move your grad date to the right.

No need to use native AND fluent for mandarin - pick one.

Seven years is an unimpressive time for an instrument - just go with "Concert clarinetist"
