Return offer in HK? Differences between HK and US

There is thread discussing "Why do people not get return offer?" Normally as long as you don't screw it up and have a good attitude, there is a spot for you. But I guess it is mainly for kids in NY office. I heard summer programs in HK are very hardcore and they want interns to compete with each other, and then pick the best candidates, especially in top 3 banks. I think the mentality and strategy of how you should perform is very different in HK. But this is just my thought, not sure about the reality. Does anyone know the return offer rate last year? Also is the rate of HK consistent with that of US?
