RIA services

I'm curious who here has used RIA-in-a-box and any similar groups? What were your experiences, would you do it differently if you were to do it again? I've heard some positive things about RIA-in-a-box but no comments with much depth regarding the full experience.

I'm going independent soon and trying to decide which route to take and if $2800-3000 is absolutely worth it if i'm trying to be as lean as possible with this startup. I also dont want to cut corners and end up with a big compliance mess at the end of the year.

Any things you'd recommend doing on your own to save costs and then using this group or another for the rest of the process?

(I'll be setting up the LLC myself beforehand)

Comments?

Looking into this as well. Do you really need to be an RIA at the outset?

My plan was to keep it under 15 investors & stay exempt under 203b3. I figured I would just build everything out if/when I get enough capital to afford the extraneous shit.

IMO, the only things you should be paying for are the incorporation fees (like $150-$250 per entity) and blue skies notifications (between $0 and $350 per state, but Florida doesnt need blue skies).

Luckily all my friends/family are in florida, lol.

As for the PPM and partnership agreement: forget what the lawyers said about going solo. Just go to docracy.com and download all the docs you need - then edit them.

Once you have real investors you can go ahead and pay a pro to review/rewrite everything.

I have a collection of credit PPMs if you're looking to do credit.

I agree it can be done for much much cheaper especially in the beginning, but I want to bring over 5+ clients with me off the start and would like to prospect many many more after that. With that said, I plan to go fully legitimate from the get go for the sake of being "legit" in the eyes of my clients and prospects as well as not having to worry about it later on down the road. This will be in GA btw.

If anyone can add to this let me know, have you guys tried Ria In A Box or similar service consultants?
