Richard Ivey, best dual degree combination? (Canada)
Hi everyone,
I am a high school senior who is most likely going to be attending the University of Western Ontario this fall and pursue the Honors Business Administration degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business. As many of you know it is a second entry program which you can enter permitting that you have maintained an 80% average and have strong EC's and it strongly encourages dual degrees. I have been accepted for both the engineering and social science (economics) faculties as well as been given conditional acceptance to the business school and I was just wondering what everyone thinks would be the most beneficial program to study before entering the business school and get a dual degree in?
I recognize that most people view engineering as a bigger achievement in comparison to economics and it may teach more rigorous material and provide a higher skill set, but do you think the extra workload is really beneficial if I am more orientated to finance? Or would it be better to take economics, most likely maintain far higher grades and have more time to focus on EC's and already be studying more career focused material from the start of university, even if it is slightly redundant in addition to a business degree. It is a struggle for me to decide because although I have heavy interests in both fields, my focus is on being as competitive as possible and preparing myself as a strong candidate for the finance industry.
TL;DR Should I buck up and take engineering, or play it safe and take economics for my dual degree at Ivey?
Thanks in advance!

It seems like ivey BASC/HBA = best DD for finance and the waterloo/laurier BBA/BCS = best DD for tech
