Rising Junior Looking For Advice about Semester Internships
Hey everyone, so I'm a rising junior at a target (Ivy). I've got a long story for the reason why I'm in the position I am, but basically I want to break into IB but I have no prior IB internships or experience. I have 3.44 GPA that's on the upwards trend. However, I do have finance experience with clubs and my student government. Also Im in the works of starting a finance journal for my school.
Heres the thing. So next semester Il be taking a semester off to find any sort of experience in finance, hopefully in IB. Il be able to do this and still graduate in time (May 2020), because I've taken a lot of credits. I have a tremendous amount of passion for finance and I want to do anything possible to break in (e.g. I've been reading books on valuation and quantitative finance ). I don't really care whether its BB or MM or Boutiques, I want to get my foot into the door, but this is rather hard because of said no experience. My current strategy is to network with boutiques in NYC and get this semester-long internship, but I haven't started yet (though I've compiled a list).
I wanted your guys' advice on this, whether or not this is feasible and if there is anything I could be doing thats better or different to set me up experience-wise for a full-time position after my senior year. I'm a little bit afraid that it's too late to get internships for next year. Thanks guys in advance. (P.S. long time fan of this forum)
