I think priority #1 should be to raise that GPA. With a 3.4GPA it's going to be difficult to leverage anything. I would focus on support roles (BO, MO), and really scouring the web for a lot of these smaller boutiques.
^ really? I know someone with a 3.6 that got Jefferies in NYC. 3.4 at a semi-target can't be low enough not to even get boutiques...especially with the school name's reputation in all of the south and midwest.
He is the exception not the rule.
By and large, 3.5 is the cutoff for IB. So in that sense, there is a sharp difference between a 3.6 and a 3.4. However, GPA isn't the sole component of a candidate's consideration. Networking, experience, extracurriculars, personality, etc. are crucial as well. Not to mention your technical knowledge, assuming you land an interview. Case in point, a friend of mine landed an interview at a BB with a 3.4. I think it's important to keep that in mind: your GPA is what it is, nothing you can do. Now it's up to you to prove that you are a capable and hardworking individual.
3.6 and 3.4 arent that close..
Is my only option at this point to reach out to boutiques?
Expand your search. If atl isn't hiring try houston, Cali, Chicago. If u find a paid internship it shud cover your living expenses
Complete non target with 3.4 landed interviews at 8 bbs and mm's. Network the fuck away.
It's not a GPA or brand name issue, it's a you issue
