Rising senior with no direct experience.

As a freshman, I was not prepared for college to say the least. I was raised in a small farm town in Texas with a horrible public school. No ap classes, guidance on colleges, etc. I got into a semi target school but did not know how to study efficiently or leverage connections. This led me to getting a 2.6 GPA(I know this is horrible) I knew I wanted to go into finance but was unsure of exactly what I wanted to do.

After freshman year I was able to get an internship as a credit analyst/float at a commercial bank. This was nice but definitely not what I wanted to do as a career.

Sophomore year first semester I knew I needed to do better but still did not get my shit into gear. As soon as I started to get my studies and networking in check, Covid-19 hit and derailed everything. In response, I co-founded a venture funded start-up that helped brick and mortar business move to online sales. Working around VC’s made me research more into banking and ultimately decide that I wanted to go into investment banking and then one day dream work at a small HF.

Throughout my junior year I focused on my studies, networking, and learning modeling. I have gained many connections but did not start trying to gain a summer 21 internship until it was too late(my gpa also would hold me back). I raised my GPA to a 3.0 and I managed to get an internship under the CFO of a large public company in automobile industry.

I know that realistically have no shot at making it to a BB/top boutique. By graduation I will hopefully have around a 3.3 and a few finance internships. I have been networking heavily by reaching out to analysts at Houston and Dallas banks to hear their experiences and then depending on the warmth of the interaction, ask about their hiring processes/who I could speak to to enter the recruiting process/etc. I have also taken the CFI FMVA and Wall Street Prep modeling courses.

My questions:
Do I still have a chance at making it to an investment bank?

How can I increase my likelihood of breaking in?

Should I even apply on websites or is this a waste of time?

Thanks to anyone who took the time to read! Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
