Michigan Ross summer analyst placement information
Hey guys,
Here's a list of Michigan Ross's summer analyst placement information for this year. I figure that some of you might be interested in this information. How does it stack up against other similar target state schools?
Note: this is ONLY for IBD. It does not include S&T, AM, PWM, etc.
Edit: Apparently I left out a few key firms. I'll update my list and come back with a conclusive version.
this is just one club at berkeley. these kids killed recruiting at my school

Five GS WOW!!! I assume this is undergrad, not MBA?
Very impressive overall. A cousin of mine goes to Ross, I hear great things about it.
IU Kelley sent the same number of kids, but not nearly as many were Bulge Bracket. They just don't have the reputation that Ross has YET.
Can someone post G-Town's numbers, so that we can see if they really are what Bankerella says they are.
Ross 2013 Summer Analyst Placement Data (Originally Posted: 08/20/2013)
In case anyone was wondering, here is the Banking/MBB placement data of Michigan Ross for 2013 Summer Analyst Recruiting from this past summer...
Allen and Company - 1 Apollo Global Mgmt - 1 Bain & Co - 2 Barclays - 2 BlackRock (advisory) - 4 (think 1 might be investment mgmt) BNP Paribas - 5 (these might all be S&T/credit risk... who knows) Citi - 9 (think around 6 of these are IB) Credit Suisse - 1 Deutsche Bank - 3 Evercore - 2 Goldman Sachs - 8 (5-6 of these are IB) Guggenheim - 2 Houlihan Lokey - 2 JP Morgan - 7 (1 is IB, the rest might be PB/Invst Mgmt) Jefferies - 4 Lazard - 2 Leerink Swann - 1 McKinsey - 1 Moelis - 1 Morgan Stanley - 6 (1-2 were IB, others were ER I believe) Nomura - 2 RBC - 2 Baird - 1 Rothschild - 3 BCG - 3 RBS - 2 UBS - 2 (don't know if these are banking) Wells Fargo - 6 (think one was public finance) William Blair - 3
Total Respondents was 245, so total in banking + MBB was like 65ish I think
this is not definitive/accurate in terms of number, at least for one bank.
which one? I'll update, some of them don't separate by ER/IB/other areas, so I had to guess.
Seems pretty accurate. I believe there are 6 Citi IBD from Ross (5 NY, 1 Chicago) as well as 6 Goldman IBD. Also another person in Evercore and another in MS that probably didn't fill the survey and who knows who else.
I also know for a fact at least 1 of the JPM was in IBD, not sure about the other 6. There were also at least 2 UBS interns in IBD.
Great thanks for the feedback, I'll update the list.
The numbers are incorrect for multiple EB's, just an FYI.
So would you mind telling me what the actual numbers are so I can update them? I took this straight from Ross's Career Office blog. There are only 245 respondents, and the total class size is like 380, so there's obviously going to be some error
How did you obtain these numbers?
Internship Placement out of Michigan Ross? (Originally Posted: 02/13/2017)
I'm deciding between undergraduate programs at different schools. After not getting into Fordham, Northeastern, and Boston College, I am choosing between Michigan Ross (pre-admit) and possibly NYU Stern. As of now, I am interested in pursuing and learning more about IBD but would like to put myself in an environment where I can grow and change interests but still be able to do well coming out of college.
How is internship placement/recruiting coming out of Michigan Ross? I know most BB's and elite boutiques recruit from there, but how competitive is it to get an interview and ultimately a summer internship in NYC? What do most Ross undergraduates do to make themselves more competitive in the recruiting process?
Lmao how did you get into Ross and Stern but not Gabelli and Carroll?? Any ways, Ross places very good, its obviously going to be competitive, you can't slack off but if you put in the work you will be just fine. Keep your grades up, join clubs and do EC's. Like you said, there are plenty of banks that recruit there so you'll be in a good position. Just as good or if not better at Stern already being in heart of it all.
Agreed with above -- you got into the two best schools out of the five you listed, so no reason to feel down. Ross placement is lights out at the top, just do a quick LI search and you will see that you can go anywhere you want with that degree.
I will defer to anyone who has attended Ross as far as recruiting advice, but I think they operate similarly to IU Kelley insofar as they have some sort of a finance club that serves as a kind of intra-Ross signal that you are legit. I would make sure to identify and target those sort of feeder programs ASAP.
can't see the stats
I can confirm these for S&T/Markets Related undergrad in Ross if OP wants to add these, have included all the big ones that came to campus. These are people that have accepted:
Citi (Capital Markets) - 3 (1) [4 total] DB - 1 GS - believe they gave superdays but no one is going Barclays - 1 MS (Equity Research) - 2-3 (2) [4-5 total] RBC - 1-2 BNP- 4-5 RBS- unknown CS- targeted club recruiting, don't know of anyone going Wells Fargo - 1
^These are all for NYC. I think there are a handful going to other places (Hong Kong, etc.), but I'm not sure about those. Also, a handful going to prop shops/other firms like BP trading.
There are probably some more, but these are the ones I for sure know of.
DB does not do OCR in Stern. Many Asian Sternies went to HK but sadly the return offer rates were like 20%.
can't see the list either...was it removed?
Poonslayer is just getting his panties tied in a knot because his NYU Stern bubble just burst. Such an overrated school.
Except as far as I can tell, the list is completely accurate and "Some Unknown" was the mistaken one.
BAML indeed stopped OCR, and I can also confirm that this will be for quite some time. But they did take someone who had done a summer in wealth there. The GS figures are accurate. JPM is accurate.
1) I should clarify that I absolutely don't know a single thing about SEO placement (and frankly, have never considered it true placement since you aren't recruited by the firm or go through campus recruiting, you are placed at a firm after an internal ranking process within SEO) so that accounts for some of my numbers being inaccurate.
2) I also know nothing about recruiting for the Asia offices since it's a process conducted separately from standard OCR.
3) I have zero clue how sophomores did, nor do I think that really factors into proper OCR numbers since sophomores are ineligible for OCR given their graduation date.
Qatalyst: cool, amazing firm and good to hear someone made it there.
Evercore: simply said I knew two for sure.
As I said, I will be at one of these (again, the classic "GS/MS/JPM" bucket to protect anonymity) and did not intend to come across aggressively. Simply trying to share information with what facts I knew for certain. Given the three caveats I just shared above, I think it's pretty evident his list and mine match up quite well. Enjoy.
Where is the Michigan Ross list? I don't see the link in the original post.
