I don't try to time the market. I max out my Roth IRA at the beginning of each year. So my answer would be no - not too late.

I am not smart enough to time the market, so I focus on time in the market.
Look at it this way: When the Dow was at 10k, it was an all time high. When it hit 20k (not that long ago), it was an all time high. When it hit 30k, it was an all time high. The crew at CNBC were almost in tears. How could the Dow be 30k . In just a few short months, it's already at 35k. Who knows what it will be next month or yr. However, 10 yrs from now, it will likely be substantially hire. That's because America and Capitalism work.
Honestly, the best Roth IRA strategy is to yolo it in something high risk/high reward. Im deadass serious.
First off, if you make more than $140k/year you can't contribute to it, so for a IB analyst that's like one year of contributions total. So your $6000 dollars is pretty much meaningless long term unless it explodes.
Second it's tax advantaged, so the capital gains incentive is YUUUGE.
Long story short - buy something risk af and then get rich.
