rothschild vs. barclays (both in nyc)
lucky enough to have SA offers from both (diversity recruitment for barclays, normal for rothschild). I already know that I want to do 2 years IB then dip to private equity (mega fund or middle market). anyone know which will set me up for better PE chances? I liked culture for both and comp is roughly similar, so this is the deciding factor for me.
Barclays unless you have an offer for Roths RX group and want to do RX. Roths in the US is more an MM firm, and Barclays has good culture (from what I hear) and a lot of strong coverage groups.
Barclays is the safer choice here for MM/UMM/MF. If you really want to go into distressed investing, go to Roths and try to get into RX group...not sure how the placement process works but it's a risk/reward issue you need to evaluate because Roths M&A exits to UMM/MF PE are significantly worse compared to Barclays.
Dude Roth has a RX division and I believe you'll get better skills from them in the long run for PE recruiting. EB all day imo. Plus as an EB you'd think they'd have a more tight knit network no?
Rothschild is not an EB kiddo
Rothschild is an EB but in this case, I would choose Barclays. Barclays will give you the better experience and better exits
This is a no brainer - Barclays for US, Roth for UK.
