rude people in finance
The finance world has many assholes( like all careers) but it seems that there is a lot more in finance. So out of curiosity, what was the meanest or most disrespectful thing somebody has said to you in your career?

MD called me gay
I wish I could fkn knock him out but hes so cute uwu
I had a boss in one position where I was verbally sexually harassed often.
Another boss who would just yell at me when she wouldn't get her way in front of everyone at my cube. What pissed her off more was that I stood up for myself and she would just yell louder - like crazy screams, but she was the manager.
The most rude though was when I was busting my ass in corp fin / management consulting and my direct manager would give me shitty bonuses when I was clearly putting out for the group. The smile in your face rude.
Details on the first one my man, details!
Just unwanted sexual comments from a superior. My boss would always pay for drinks and food when going out, but I don’t think it covered the comments. Happened in the office in front of other people and outside the office when my boss was drunk.
Didn't happen to me but I saw an analyst submit a first draft after slaving away on the deal; the MD didn't respond. The next day, another analyst was trying to work the deal from scratch. No notes, no help, just pushed the project onto someone else because I guess he didn't like the product.
Was wearing a yellow polo on a casual Friday, and a senior guy comes up to me and makes a comment "interesting color, I didn't know you date guys" (something along those lines suggesting that I must be gay for wearing that color. The guy was previous sued for sexual harassment and I'm not surprised at all. I found this funny given my sick sense of humor, but I didn't know we were that "close". I returned the favor with a similar joke to him later on in the year and got feedback to work on the appropriateness of the things that I say.. Baffling feedback....
I have some more stories, my previous group was a nightmare but it might be too revealing. Just imagine working in an environment where senior people relative to you don't do any work, deflect all responsibility onto you. Developed a strong instinct for potential deer in headlights situations after that.
Constantly being mocked for my ‘posh’ ‘toff’ accent. Personal questions about my parents wealth/ background with sneer on their faces. That I’d be better off working in IB because I ‘sound’ like them. Any good work by me is standard or ‘luck’. This is all just basic rite of passage for interns (esp in prop) I know, but I laugh inside in the knowledge my 1 bed flat is worth more than their 5 bed home in 2 hour commute-land haha. Thanks for the privilege mum & dad
you just sound like a loser lmao
Yeah you just sound like an insufferable human, not someone who experienced rudeness
Please report back if you received a return offer
I'll bet you won't 3 against 1 - anyone who wants to take the other side of the bet let me know
Given during Covid hairdresser were closed and my hair were relatively long, during a virtual meeting with other colleagues my MD started saying that with those hairs I was looking like a communist and a Corbyn supporter
Rumor has it one of the MD's in my old group flipped out and embedded a deal toy in the wall of his office after an Analyst updated LIBOR without telling him before pasting outputs and shipping off to the client.
My boss actually called me yesterday and said that I "should consider what I wear on our Zoom calls" ... I have been wearing sleeveless Nike tanks for basically the whole Spring/Summer since I had no AC until recently. Apparently someone found that offensive, so from now on I plan on joining all Zoom calls with a suit coat, collared shirt, and tie.
Superior keeps heckling me for a Snickers.
It's always the non-target kids that are the rudest. I don't know if they have a chip on their shoulder, or something, but there's really no need to be rude or consider everything an attack on them. Even as coworkers, I hate working with non-target guys because they refuse to entertain any suggestions or different opinions.
Was annoying as hell when I was networking back in undergrad and every non-target guy was extremely disinterested and rude, while every guy I talked to from a target school was extremely helpful and friendly. Like, I'm sorry you weren't smart enough to go to an Ivy, but chill out.
Strange because non-target kids are 99% of the time humble and hard-workers from my experience. Many Ivy leaguer's that I've met on the other hand tend to have an attitude, or this fake "niceness, positive attitude" that is extremely easy to to read.
