Rules for internal interviews?

Hey everyone.

Running through the internal interview process. On of the most frustrating parts to me is the waiting. Had two "quick chats" with hiring managers over a week ago. Any thoughts on etiquette when following up? Should internals still wait as long (about two weeks) before following up? Is shooting a quick IM good idea or stick with email?
