Russian airline narrowly avoided disaster... which airlines to avoid?

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-08-1…

A flock of seagulls struck a Ural Airlines plane and caused both engines to lose power. Pilot performed emergency landing on a cornfield, 230 passengers and crew all safe, and don't forget about the Aeroflot incident back in May when the emergency landing failed and left 41 of 78 passengers dead.

Russian airlines seem to have serious safety problems... 8231 passengers have died in Aeroflot crashes, about five times more than any other airline. I'd avoid them at all costs, as well as Malaysian Airlines. One of their planes (MH370) went missing in 2014 and still not found. Another (MH17) got shot down, which is just insane, and of course everyone on board was killed.

For domestic carriers my go-tos are JetBlue and Alaska. Would avoid United/ Delta/ American/ Southwest for obvious reasons. For transatlantic flights I'd go with Lufthansa and Swiss, even if it means I have to make a stopover at one of their hubs.

What are your favorite airlines & which airlines would you avoid?

Alaska and Delta are the highest rated domestic airlines. I don't get to experience Alaska much, but Delta is undoubtedly better than JetBlue, United, American, and Southwest in my experience and I'll happily give them my loyalty. (Not to mention it's easy to with American Express)

Internationally, I like Virgin Atlantic to England and Singapore and Emirates when possible. I've never flown Korean, Qantas, or Qatar, but they're all highly rated as well.
