so cringe dude... "I agreed to mentor her" who are you

Definitely possible as the amount of RU alumni on the street has been increasing. This year we’re sending around 15 kids to IB, 15 to S&T, and between 5-10 to other roles (ER,AM). Try to get your name out there early and get involved in LIBOR, Student Managed Fund and apply for the Road to Wall Street program your freshman year. There is no doubt that it will be an uphill battle compared to Stern, but that grind is what the Rutgers brand is all about. Happy to speak more in depth, feel free to DM me.

Would love to understand what ur process has been like from RU and if u were successful. thank you So much!

Any other thoughts? Maybe from alums or ppl with offers/internships at good firms in FO IB

Hey RTWS (graduating '22). I have an offer to do IB at a BB summer of '21. It's possible if you want it enough. It definitely isn't set up for you like it may be at Stern, but the RTWS program and SMF really help. It's possible if you want it.

Like anywhere else, it also substantially helps if you are a woman or other minority. A disproportionate (relative to the male/female split in the program itself) number of the kids from the Rutgers RTWS program with FO offers are women/diversity.

freshman year- join LIBOR and Student Managed Fund (SMF). Do the Bender case comp and other case competitions, and keep your GPA high. take classes like Road To Wall Street and study your modeling skills throughout college. by Freshman summer, get a job in some kind of financial company or something finance related.

Sophomore year, take your finance classes ASAP. accounting first semester and financial management after that. get yourself ahead class wise and start interviewing for a internship at something modeling related (prudential or if you can swing a IB sophomore program). keep networking at LIBOR and going to their events, meet the campus recruiters, network with alumni at events.

junior year. take all your finance classes, and nail a internship at a front office role at a BB. get the return offer and then senior year you can cruise through.

if you don’t get the offer, don’t give up. recruit senior year, but now you won’t have to take too many classes and can recruit more. get a full time the. by utilizing your network you build.

that’s what I did. working IB at BB

Yo we got the same kid responding to himself over and over again^^ lol

Anyways, Rutgers is a great school for placements in the recent years. Whether its IB or S&T or ER/AM, we have been establishing an alumin presence over the years.

Join the clubs mentioned above, but just grind bud. Get on the phone, send emails, talk to people, and just be likable. I am in RTWS too and it helped but its not do or die.

We are "target" for a decent amount of banks "not officially" but we are; such as DB, CS, BNP Paribas, a strong presence in MS S&T, Citi S&T. We have been establishing stronger relations with Jefferies, WF, GS, BofA, not so much so JPM and Barclays (hopefully that changes).

Lastly, all this banter you see up here its bullshit. I have made many friends in RTWS and throughout the business school working FO, we are not like this. Its just when the anonymous feature is on people tend to flex what they don't really have. Honestly I won't be surprised if some of these people who are commenting don't even go to Rutgers lol. But trust me the culture you will find at Rutgers and the amount of aid is there if you know what to do and where to look. Don't let these comments sway you elsewhere. Good luck dude, wishing you the best!

Multiple fit the IB Generalist intern description lad.. doesn’t mean they’re responding to themselves. Aside from that I completely agree with everything you’ve said. Like every other school, there will be a few of rotten apples who are uncomfortable with themselves so they anonymously go on forums to boast what they don’t have and spread toxicity. 9 times out of 10 you’ll find people at Rutgers who are willing to go the extra mile to help you out

hi freshme right now at complete non target that will be transferring to RU for 2020/21 school year as a sophomore in the business school any advice or thoughts on how i could participate in the schools ib/fo programs? also is alumni network at RU like most non targets or are they strong?
