SA: Honestly, Can I Lie About GPA?

Be straight with me guys, regarding SUMMER ANALYST POSITIONS IN NYC OFFICES:

-Do background checks actually have access to and check GPA? Doesn't FERPA prevent any sort of request from seeing personal info i.e. GPA? Aren't these checks just to comfirm enrollment and graduation year?

-BB people, does HR ask for unofficial or official transcript?

Edit: state your BB or at least one that it is not

Edit 2: I have the minimum GPA, I just inflated a bit

Of course you are gonna have to give them you transcripts! Offers for BB are contingent on a minimum of 2:1! I guess it could also vary but this is what I have seen for me and most of my friends in London

Is this a joke? Your GPA is one of the most easily verifiable things on your resume. Virtually all banks require an official transcript.

To infinity... and beyond!

I'm pretty sure the 3rd party background check firms they hire ask for the transcript after you've been offered the job, along with checking your previous employment history and so on.

If you have to lie about your GPA, you'll never make it.

GPA: Lying or honest? (Originally Posted: 12/17/2014)

Hey guys,

So my GPA is currently 3.3-3.4 but when I spoke with the dean earlier this year, there were some issues with credits and long story short, by doing a petition to get rid of a couple credits, my GPA would go up rounded to 3.5. However, the petition is not through yet and there is a chance that it may get denied. For OCR, I have been submitting my resume with a 3.5 GPA. Would I get in trouble for this or would I be able to explain it and have it be understandable. Thanks for the input.

I guess you could keep the 3.5 and then if the petition were to get rejected and HR were to ask you you could say you had no way of knowing that the petition was going to be rejected and everyone you had spoken with had all but assured you that the petition would have been accepted. Just a thought. But, I agree with notthehospitalER...a 3.3 is not a 3.5.
