SA vs FT recruiting (London)
So i've read what I can about FT vs SA recruiting in the UK, but obviously the majority of content on here is US focused and recruitment does seem to vary significantly.
I'm currently a SA at a boutique, doing a masters at a target next academic year. I would like to apply straight for FT but recognise this would leave getting an offer from a BB near impossible. Given this, I think my sights are primarily set on MM firms, in order to improve my chances. (Although I would still apply to BB's anyway just in case)
My overall questions are:
- How realistic is FT recruiting to a MM firm from a boutique SA in the current climate?
- Do you have to be in the loop through networking in London for accelerated recruiting?
- If instead you SA after graduating, what are the chances you wouldn't have to wait around for a year before starting back FT?
If it’s not a well-known boutique then you should apply for SA.
Well they do good sized deals, decently into middle market territory from what I’ve seen. Saying that, I think the firm is too young to be well-known, will focus on SA wherever I can.
