Salary negotiation advice for 2nd yr FP&A analyst at major HF

I’m relatively new to WSO so bear with me here...

I received a financial analyst position at a major HF in CT on the FP&A team. It’s not the Investment Analyst role I originally applied for (original resume turned out to be non-ATS compliant... dumb, I know). During my interview, I was told this position has been a “launch pad” into trading/ investment oriented roles in the past. I came to really like the team I interviewed with so I decided to stick it out.

2 questions in relation:
1. Have you seen financial analysts move into the investment side of HFs? What is the typical timeline or trajectory for an FP&A analyst? Any advice for someone hoping to make an eventual switch?

2.My background
Non target school w/ 3.9 GPA and 2 yrs of student gov leadership; 1.5 years in consulting (moved into associate role v quickly), 4 internships (includes GSIFI but no BB or IB experience) and strong technical skills

How should I gauge myself as a candidate for salary negotiations? Glassdoor has been unhelpful since Ive seen such a huge range for analyst (55-140K) . Not sure what I should ask for but an estimate or guide could be helpful

Gracias WSO
