Sales and Trading vs. Internal Consulting at BB
Hi all.
2nd year internal consultant at a BB at a major bank. The work I do requires a lot of soft skills, outside the box thinking, process refinement, working with senior stakeholders, etc. The issue is I don't particularly enjoy it, I've always wanted to be in a revenue generating role, and I feel like I'm capped comp wise. Worth noting I have a promotion on the table come this summer.
That said, I have an opportunity to transition to a S&T role at the same BB. I'd normally be jumping for joy but reading up on the demise of S&T I'm second guessing it. On one hand I'd be client facing, revenue generating which I've always wanted, plus the medium-term comp has more of an upside. However, not sure how an S&T role would fit in the scheme of one of my main goals (M7 MBA) and I'm afraid that if it's not the right fit for me it would pigeon hole me.
24 y/o guy here, what would you do in my position? What are some of the things you'd consider? Thinking about starting to tap into my professional network to get weight on this but wanted to see what this forum thinks first.
