Sample PE pitch deck?

Can any experienced monkeys on WSO help out a newbie? I'm interested to see what a real-world PE pitch deck looks like--the initial PowerPoint presentation a firm would send to a prospective LP (not a PPM), outlining investment strategy, management team, etc. I understand they are proprietary, but if you have one that's so old it's irrelevant, or redacted, etc., I'd love to take a look only as background to what the industry standard for pitch decks is. Send me via PM, please.

I don't have one to send you but did work on some fundraising in the past. It's not that interesting - you can get 90% of what's in a deck from a PE firm's website. The main thing missing will be past performance.

You could hunt down the websites of some of the publicly-traded funds. Several of these funds, especially BDCs will publish analyst day and investor presentations. This should give a flavor of what you are looking for, and will outline investment strategy, management team, etc. I have seen several examples, you just need to know where to look.

From my experience of making investor decks you can structure it in the below format.

  1. What problem are you trying to solve? (Include what we do statement)
  2. What is the size of the market?
  3. How big is the opportunity? (Rough calculations if you capture 10% - 20% of the market)
  4. Who are the current players?
  5. What is your differentiator compared to the competition?
  6. Team (How capable and their background in this space)
  7. How your product/service/platform is scalable? (Most important)
  8. How much funds you need and the application of funds

There will be lot of sample format but if you answer the above questions and visually convey a story then you will be in great shape to present.

Hope this helps!
