Savings, where to invest?
Hello All,
I’m getting a base of $100K and bonus ~$15K in SF (~$80K after tax). Getting 401K match up to 6%.
Estimated I could save $32.5K. After I do max contributions to 401K, Roth IRA and HSA I have ~$11K left to invest. Where do I put it? Just an individual stock account or should I do something different?
Thanks
Do you have 6 months expenses saved up? If not put that in a hy savings account first. Do you have any compliance restrictions? If no then make a portfolio that pleases you. If you do have restrictions stick to broad market etfs like voo, assuming you don’t have etf restrictions either. Even if you don’t have restrictions the safe move would be to stick to etfs anyway.
For the 401k portion that makes sense but I’m talking about the remaining amount once I maxed out the 401k yearly contribution.
I wasn't talking about the 401k i was talking about your personal account. You don't have compliance restrictions on a 401k.
So you recommend to invest the additional $11k I have after I max out the 401k and roth ira into more equities?
The alternative is what? Bonds, ill pass. Real estate, Idk what properties you can buy with 11k. Cash, you already have enough for 6 months expenses. Gold/Bitcoin, If you wan't Idk enough about either. I personally put bonuses straight to voo, even tho im 99% in equities in my 401k as well.
