SBs for buyside RE analyst interview info/tips

Thanks to everyone that helped in my post the other day.

If anyone can point me to any information/sites that can help someone prepare for an RE analyst interview. SBs for solid info.

Thanks in advance, guys.

What sort of exp do you have? If you're a current undergrad/haven't worked in RE before they'll probably just test you on basics. At the bare minimum, know what a cap rate is and how to calculate NOI (operating income - operating expenses - RE taxes, but excludes TI/LC/CapEx). Also would have a good answer to why you want to go into real estate (can't stress this enough) and have a general direction on where the market is headed.

Thanks, man. Actually, a football buddy of mine from undergrad (who is a few years younger than me) has an interview for a first year analyst position and asked me to help him out. However, I know very little to nothing about RE.

In my opinion Networking is the most important aspect of breaking into any area of the real estate industry. I met dozens of industry professionals before landing my buyside side analyst position.

  1. http://astudentoftherealestategame.com/category/career-options/ is a good online resource.

2.There is also a ULI book on different career paths in real estate that helped me break into the industry. http://www.uli.org/education/inside-track-to-careers-in-real-estate/

PM me if you have any specific questions...
