"Scared" of Success

Hi WSO Community,

I got a special problem: I'm an HYP student who has been working under the radar on health tech project together with a friend over the past two years. The past summer, my friend worked at MBB and he got a return offer which he gladly took.

Over the past weeks, we got some very positive news from professors and potential investors. They encouraged us to apply to incubators such as YC. Put simply, the health tech project actually seems to be going somewhere. However, my friend and co-founder now got "scared" that if the project gets too successful, MBB would look unfavorably at his ties to the project, even if he is not directly related to it anymore. For me, this sounds absolutely nonsensical and bringing this topic up to potential investors would only create problems. I talked to MBA students that either worked at MBB or continue to do so about this issue, and the unison response was that MBB would be thrilled to have such people on board.

Any advice appreciated
