School for Ibanking
Hey guys I really wish to go into ibanking and here's my situations:
-I completed my freshman year at University of Notre Dame(business school ranked third in the naiton)
-this fall I can either continue at ND where I have a 4.0GPA OR WHARTON!! I got in as a transfer!
-If I want to go wall street which should I do because I have an awesome GPA here and I really wish to save it?
-Also, if I wish for a MBA later wouldn't a high GPA help? or would Wharton undergrad look better?
Some helpful input would be great!
If you're set on Ibanking, pick Wharton. The BW ranking is almost as crappy ND's football team.
But if you want to do banking after undergrad, Wharton is probably better.
Any publication that ranks BYU as a top 5 business program needs to be reexamined. Go to Wharton, its a stronger program, better recruiting, and better alumni network. And probably better football team at this point as well.
So to actually give you some facts, out of my SA IB class, 6 UPenn, 0 ND. Enough said, do they even recruit UG there.
This is not even close. Wharton places on wall street like no other.
Wow, if you've got the chance to go to Wharton, take it. It's not the prestige, so much as the access: great, skilled teachers, alumni base, and recruiters that will give you a shot.
For the billionth time. I've seen plenty of ~3.9s and near-perfect SATs get rejected. They accept less than 5%. Take it and run with it.
FYI...about 35 kids from ND got Summer IB positions. 11 at Goldman (some are S&T), 5 at JPMorgan, and 3-4 at the other banks except no one for Lehman or MS (although MS gave out 3 offers but none of us took them). With a 4.0 you will get an offer from every bank unless you suck at interviewing. Two of us got offers everywhere we interviewed so I would say it is not necessary to go to Wharton except the weather is probably better and the girls probably are too.
You're focusing too much on short term goals... Think long term. Wharton > ND Compare the big names in wallstreet that went to wharton vs ND
irishkid: Just having a 4.0 will NOT get you that many interviews, especially in this market. Also, I don't believe that you got 11 at Goldman, but no more than 5 at any other place. This season was not welcoming and ND does not place very well. I'm an SA at a BB and our class had 0 ND students (not MS or Lehman).
Wharton for sure. You obviously are intelligent with your 4.0, the difference at Wharton can be made-up with some good ole' fashioned hard work and determination! Access to everything from world class professors to top notch recruiting places Wharton over ND.
