Screwed up KKR interview—will it hurt my future chance?

I completely screwed up my KKR Credit SA interview... Will it hurt my future chances when recruiting for full-time (either straight out of college or after a few years of IB)? Do they keep a profile on every candidate they interviewed?

Yes there's a profile, but how badly did you screw it up? If it's not terrible, you can always try to jiujitsu the person you spoke with and keep in touch. Later you can come back to them in a year or two and try to convert. By JJ I mean try to finesse any mistakes and turn the engagement into something positive. It's better that they met you and know about you, even if it doesn't come out into an offer, than if they had never met you at all.

Pitched the wrong company (one that KKR is apparently watching very very closely according to the interviewer). Got grilled on the details and the numbers which I couldn’t answer. When asked about how I got into investing, I made the mistake of revealing that I initially got hooked by trading commodities futures (which doesn’t match KKR Credit’s risk profile) instead of giving a more thought-out story about value investing.
