Securing a summer internship
Well I applied to about 12 programs for summer intern positions of 7 different companies. My worry is that these are too high end companies (DB, MS, Goldman) and I'm looking for something more secure; beggars can't be choosers. I live in the New Jersey area and I guess I have an alright resume. I have a 3.4 GPA which I intend to bring up alot and I am fluent in Italian both spoken and written.
What I want to know is is there smaller financial groups in my area that are taking interns? I'm talking about ANYTHING that i can get a hold of to put on my resume in the field of finance during the summer if my select picks fall through. How do I go about finding these smaller firms?
Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
what year are you and what school do you go to? with a 3.4 only 7 companies is way too low; there are lists of MM/boutique investment banks on the site (do a search) which are good to reach out to.
I'm a junior and at Montclair State. Not exactly an Ivy school but it has been rated as top 50 in business.
Ty for the info
I'm sorry....did you see my resume somehow?
Nebular, get an unpaid banking internship.
its your only shot.
I would gladly take an unpaid banking internship...however I'm not so sure how to go about that? Where can I find a bank taking interns even if there is no pay involved?
I am actually pretty curious about unpaid banking internships myself. How can I get those?
Also Nebular, I am probably just stating the obvious, but if you can rack up some A+ in Finance and accounting courses, its going to help your course, focus is the key IMO
And differentiating between course and cause will help yours.
As far as finding unpaid internships, LinkedIn/alumni directory/Google, an email client, and your phone are about all the tools you need for that. Good luck to both of you.
sounds like a plan, thanks for correcting the typo
