Selecting locations when applying
Hi all,
I'm just curious about the dynamics of selecting an office location.
I am wondering if it is okay to select offices simply because one wants to live there despite no connection to it. For example, say I list Amsterdam on my list of choices on a McK application. Will reviewers be like "You have no connection to Amsterdam and speak intermediate Dutch. Why the hell did you put Amsterdam?" I wold guess you'd be expected to justify your answer with something that's somewhat logical, but I am curious to know what accounts for logical? I am assuming giving a silly answer like "The Anne Franke Museum was awesome" or "I want to spend my weekends in De Wallen!" aren't going to cut it. But would it be reasonable to say something like "I really enjoy Dutch culture and the lifestyle and want the experience to learn more about the country, the language, and have easy access to adjacent European cities?"
I am just curious because I am thinking of putting a city I don't really have any immediate connection to as my third choice. I think it would be an interesting place to live culturally, the office seems to serve clients from industries I am particularly interested in, and I believe the office culture would be a good match for me.
