Self-employment ideas
If you had the desire to become self employed, what would you do? Would it be within the industry you work, something different like opening a franchise? Or a new concept?
I ask this because, in late January, a google article magically appeared on my phone that a ice cream/frozen dessert concept started to franchise. It was not in my area, and frequented this spot whenever we visited family in the area the concept existed.
I quickly inquired, spoke with the franchise partner. We discussed the franchise and How I was familiar with it and my background. He sent me an application which I completed and only to be told that that they will not be in my market for another 2 years. From what I was able to gather, he said my area was a high cost of living state. It would really skew the numbers they had to provide on the Franchise Disclosure Document, they anticipate to expand in my area 2022. However, If I am willing to open in their target markets we can talk. I passed not within my comfort zone.
If you guys were to go out on your own and become self employed, what would you do? Equally as important, what stopping you? (Other than the pandemic).

being a franchisee can be good money if you do it right, but IMO you’re just a conduit to someone else achieving their dream. you’re helping someone build their own brand equity. profitable? can be. long term, depends. as trends change you might find yourself in a shit position if the franchise company doesn’t adjust. Now, starting your own co and franchising it.... now that’s the shit.
