Sell-side Equities Trader --> HF Trader ?
There are lots of threads talking about how Credit Traders can move to Credit HF's and FICC Traders to Global Macro funds. But what about Equities? I guess cash equities is too automated and simple but could equity derivatives trading provide skills that are transferable to some sort of equity related hedge fund? Or will ER/IBD guys most often take those spots instead?
If SS Equities Trading is useful, are there any particularly useful desks to have an extra look at? I will be doing a rotational program within the Equities Trading division of a BB this summer.
cash equities -> execution
eq derivs -> can get a risk seat if good...
there might be cases where equity HF needs a derivatives strat/structurer, but that's different
lots of people eq derivs stay on the sell-side because there's upside
Okay, well I want to do actual trading/investing in the future, so I'll try to steer towards equity derivs then! Thanks.
if you're in equity and want "investing" buyside move to ER or trade converts
