Senior Auditor to staff FP&A?
I have been with big 4 as an auditor for 3 years. Being a senior audit now, I'm seriously considering going to the industry, as I don't plan to stay in public accounting in the long run. I'm particularly interested in corporate FP&A roles and applied for a few positions.
Ideally, i would like a Sr. FP&A title in a large public company. But I realized a lot of these Sr positions require more years of experience than I currently have. So most of my applications to those roles are not successful.
Right now I found there are quite some financial analyst roles that require around 3 years of experience with nice and large companies. But my concern is if I exit big 4 as a senior and become a staff financial analyst, will that look weird on my resume? Also will that lead to delayed career advancement?
In addition, my initial goal is to look for big companies. But would a sr. PF&A in a smaller company benefit me more than a staff position in a big corporation? Should i go for the title or the size? (I know the things i do is more important. But resume is the first thing I present in front of other people and i want it to be eye-catching, besides doing valuable work.)
Many thanks!
