senior still looking for a job
I am a senior from a target school with a 3.1 and no Ibanking internship. I know recruiting season is long past, so what are types of things should I be doing to land an analyst role? also, what firms should i be targeting?
was in your boat, so i pulled an sa stint and will be at a one year masters program until next july. it worked out quite well, actually.
good luck on the search.
Boutiques and/or Connections. With those stats and this market, applying to BBs through traditional routes will almost certainly be fruitless. I'd contact every boutique investment bank, advisory firm, small pe fund, asset management, consulting etc. firm you can find (there are hundreds). If you can get an interview at a handful, and don't mind taking a haircut on prestige, pay, exit ops etc., you've got a shot. Or, go work in industry at a Dow component or other large, reputable corporation and plan to get an MBA. Then redo.
how about at a pre ipo company? the company is in the middle of nowhere but looking to do an ipo this year and a couple acquisitions - if i worked in a financial analyst capacity in such a company would i have skills to transfer to banking?
what masters are you doing?
I'm thinking about doin that, or taking a crappy job, doing a part time masters for a year or two then reapplying
