SEO for Sophomores?
Even though I'm super late in the game, before I submit my application in its entirety, I just wanted to check in to see it SEO internships applied to rising sophomores.

SEO used to have a program where you'd intern in a bank's London office sophomore summer, and then in NY junior summer. HR and mgmt loved it, but the individual desks hated it, so I think they cancelled it. Not sure if they still have a sophomore program
SEO-U is the program you do as a freshman and through the summer after freshman year. It isn't an internship program but it is aimed at rising sophomores (or juniors) and is supposed to get you ready to apply to SEO the next year.
SEO does take sophomore interns (summer before junior year), but they don't take freshman interns.

Can anyone provide information on what kind of sophomores SEO will take for its IB program? The organization came to my school last week and mentioned that while the majority of applicants who get the job are juniors, there are some sophomores. Are these sophomores rockstars?
It will be heavily weighted on your interview. Sophomores definitely get internships. It's by no means a rarity. You just have to nail the interviews. Its really technical. Mental math. Case questions. Everything.
You just have to be fucking good in the inteviews to get in.
you can get in but you nee to be prepare to answer virtually everything: general-type, motivational, math/ logical, case studies.. Just be prepared and be excellent for the interviews! good is not enough
not impossible, but definitely at a disadvantage
Try your best... it never hurts to try
You should also understand that they are targeting people of certain ethnic backgrounds, mainly the ones under-represented on Wall Street. Just through personal experience and from what I've heard.
no Perella!
of course you have to be from minorities.. but you should be damn good! seo interns have to go through tough procedures before getting in. As tough as other interns.. so my advice is to get ready because there's much to do if you want to go th" as a sophomore
I can tell you from experience that the procedures and interviews are certainly difficult. I prepared with interview question guides, going through Wall Street Prep and DealMaven again for a refresher, and speaking with upperclassmen who had interviewed and successfully received SA positions at Goldman Sachs, Sagent Advisors, Macquarie, and Lazard. It definitely was a large part of my success throughout the process, so make sure you are ready and at your best. GL!

Hey. I've asked for help previously on preparing for SEO in-person interview. So I have my interview this week. I am a sophomore so I have only taking financial accounting and microecon. I was just wondering how the technical questions were for sophomores applying for the IBD program? Thanx.
what happens if you get into SEO-Corporate Finance as a sophomore, do they place you into one of the BB rotational programs?
They give you an internship with one of the investment banks that participate in their program. Not all of them are BB's though. Has anyone in Boston who's done applied before October 1 on the accelerated track heard back yet? I know a couple of people in asset management that have gotten it, but nobody in IBD.
Sophomore candidates to the SEO Career Program would be given the same interview questions that freshmen, juniors, and 5th years would get. Be prepared to talk about your focus on the community, evaluate the size of a market (ex: how many phone booths in New York), etc...

5th Years can do SEO? I thought the program was limited to internships, and considering a 5th year would (hopefully) be graduating...
If you check the SEO website, there's a phrase that reads something along the lines of "seniors with one quarter/semester/academic term remaining." I know of very few students who did the Master's Program + Undergraduate Program and qualified for SEO.

how hard is it to get a SEO interview? Are they REALLY selective?
