Short Intro, First-timer open to advice
Hello everyone, I'm new to WSO and still trying to find my way around. A quick background, I'm an international student from Singapore currently entering her junior year as a Finance major here in NYC (non-target). I'm looking to break into IB/PE and from what I've read in the forums here, it's going to be very hard work. OCR in my school is pretty good and the alumni is active. I'm open to any advice on how to get work experience, internships, networking opportunities and generally any tips about the finance industry here in NY.
Welcome! Which school are you going to? I just graduated from Pace.
Thanks! I'm from SJU and I'm looking to apply for internships soon. Do you have any tips you could share on breaking into the industry? I've read quite a few posts on how networking and cold calling are good ways to start, did any of it work for you personally?
First thing if you haven't already is join the beta alpha psi organization and ascend at St. John's, and network with the students/alumni there. I used a lot of alumni to build up contacts and use linkedin for job searches, it works! Which field do you specifically want to get into? I have experience in am,ib, and ops.
