Should I add family office experience on resume?
Would it be a good idea to add this temp/contract position I had for three months at a family office that makes private equity investments? Would it be frowned upon? This is really just for having an updated resume ready for IB positions. Assuming I have relevant internships for banking in the past? Thanks everyone!!

Anyone?
Why would you think it would be frowned upon? I'd add it.
Thank you for your input! I had a classmate at BAML tell me they will press me on why banking, but I find it to be discouraging advice because I feel some people want to see others fail. Its not always the case, but...correct me if Im wrong.
If anything this helps your story. I liked x about working at a family office but not so much y. Working in banking allows for x in addition to y.
no z ? you sound like a slacker
Definitely include.
Listening to classmates for advice on what to include is a "blind leading the blind" situation.
Family Office - How to account it on resume (Originally Posted: 03/13/2012)
I am hoping someone can help me out with a few questions I have regarding my work in a family office and how to account for it on my resume. A little background-I am looking for a job within financial research/analysis, institutional securities sales, Asset Management/pwm, and sales and trading. I graduated in December 2010 and worked in corporate marketing from January 2011 until August 2011 when I quit. In September I started working for a family office. My Dad and Uncle are the principals and my mother, siblings, nieces, and I are all beneficiaries. I am largely responsible for developing our investment strategy. I hold no licenses myself and my experience in working outside my family is thin. Eventually, I want to perform all front office work myself instead of the third parties that currently execute our decisions.
My dilemma is that I want to put this experience on my resume because I do not want it to look like I have done nothing since August. Is it recommended to put this on my resume or just leave it off? What should I call myself? Advisor?
I appreciate any and all feedback. Thanks.
Just don't disclose that it's your family.
