Should I admit I was fired?

At my last job, I was fired. I caught Epstein Barr virus - its a virus that leaves you bed bound for 2-3 weeks, and takes at least 6 weeks to fully recover from. The first day I caught it, my boss caught me in the break room for 2 hours and wrote me up. I didn't show up the next day as I was admitted to the hospital. I went to HR and tried to explain the situation and brought my note from the hospital, and I opened a claim against my boss. I was supposed to talk to the Director of HR in the evening, but he never spoke to me and ignored my email. My boss had to attend a sensitivity training workshop, and he fired me the next day for "performance".

How do I explain this in job interviews? Should I mention this on applications?
