Should I cold email the MD of a fund I want to work with in London or should I go with a graduate that joined circa one year ago

There's a hedge fund with a graduate/summer program I want to join in London before I hopefully start my masters at a top target next year and I found out the MD went to my university (semi target russell group).
I want to cold email him my stock pitch and an introduction and ask for a call then a referral for an interview to this program. However I am worried it might get me blacklisted or something due to the audacity of such a thing. On the other hand there's a graduate analyst that joined a year ago that I made a wild guess he would be more friendly to talking, though he isn't an alumni of my university and doesn't have anything in common with me as far as I can tell. Who do you think I should contact?

Background:
1. Black Male - Sorry if this seems extraordinarily crass to state but I am really nervous about the whole thing and have seen so many great answers here over the years that made me respect the site hence I want to provide as much info to aid to your answers
2. Foreign National - Not physically in the UK atm and would need a visa, that's why I thought an MDs referral might be the only thing powerful enough to get me an interview
3. Work exp - Currently doing a big 4 audit internship, prev summer at a BB in treasury, irrelevant HR internship and former leader of student society in investment management, so not great compared to the double or triple barrelled BB S&T internship guys/gals that would probably be applying :(
4. Education (graduated bsc in accounting, upper second class, currently studying for cfa L1 for june next year (2020), intermediate in python
