Should I start early or spend the time traveling?
Quick background on myself:
I'm graduating in December and have an offer at a BB to start in either January or July of 2022. I'm technically graduating a semester late, so part of me feels the need to start early. However, I realize that I will never have six months of free time again.
Right now I've got ~25k in savings, no debt, and no other pressing obligations. I'm not exactly sure what I would do or where I would go during that time, so I'm open to any suggestions.
What are your opinions on starting early versus finding something cool to do during that time?
Travel! Time is your limited resource for the rest of your life, not money
I was in the same boat. Started about 5 months earlier than I needed to. Such a dumb decision.
Travel
This is such a no brainer. Travel and get in the best shape of your life. You literally have the next 4 decades to work. For the love of god don’t be a fucking hardo.
Similar situation. Travel where though? Personally never traveled in my life. Is it fine to travel solo?
Are you white? Do you speak any other languages fluently? Are you a woman? Are you gay? Do you hold an American or EU passport?
Parts of Mexico are very safe. That’s where I mainly go. I’ve also been to parts of Europe.

Travel! Go without a plan and find people! I recommend picking a destination (are you a history buff? Do you want to surf? Be in a big city?) and stay at a hostel the first week or so. If you find people you like, figure out where they are headed and join. If you don’t, find a cheap flight or train and go somewhere else. I recommend being pretty flexible so then you can change your plans.
Like most of the participants in the discussion, I will say that it is best to go on a trip. However, you still have to do what is convenient for you. If you feel insecure or don't want to travel alone, it's worth putting this idea aside.
lol I’m gonna probably spend all my SA money to travel with my parents because I’ll never have that much time again for a while.
Dude, travel.
There are only a few times post-college where you have a lot of time to do whatever you want.
You will absolutely regret starting early when you’re on your 4th all-nighter in a row
Please for the love of God, country and self, push the start date to July and travel, party and laze around till you are tired of it. The do whatever else you want till you get tired of that too. That way you actually start really looking forward to working and will avoid burning out too early.

I’m going to go against the grain here and say, you should travel.
But in all seriousness, you have your entire life to work, but a very limited window to not have obligations that prevent you from just picking shit up and going somewhere. It’s hard to get as a kid, but once you start working, getting 2 weeks off becomes increasingly complicated.
And what exactly do you want?
Of course, you need to agree to travel!
Seems like you have some change saved up and aren't in any kind of financial struggle. So if that's right, definitely go travel. Have fun unburdened by any kind of academic or professional obligations. Once you start working, this kind of time really becomes scarce. Wish I was able to.
