Should you put a picture on your LinkedIn profile?
This was one of the trending articles today on LinkedIn: http://www.businessinsider.com/should-you-include…
If you put a picture, you might get discriminated against (e.g. the recruiter hates fat people). If you don't put one, they might wonder about why you don't, since the majority of LinkedIn profiles have pictures.
My profile has a picture on it. Does yours? Do you think people should have one?
That's one of the first things all the articles regarding LinkedIn use say to do. Put a picture
i dont put it on there cause unfortunately theres still racialism in the word, so let my expurrrence speak 4 itself.
linkedin needs 2 stop the hate and start the hirin cause when u see my performance youll be mirin
I'm tan, handsome, and the headshot does not reveal my short stature, so including the photo is a no-brainer.
Hmmm, you have the option to pick whichever photo you like. Just select a good photo of yourself. Problem solved. I can't see racism being a serious problem in any reputable firm, and your photo does nothing to indicate height.
I feel like anyone who doesn't have a professional headshot won't be taken seriously, and as such, you should definitely have a LinkedIn profile picture.
If you are above average in the looks department and have a photo of you looking clean cut, it can only help.
I got one. If you have a professional shot that's great. But one taken from your laptops webcam won't hurt if done properly. Especially if you are job hunting outside of your metro area, it can be a plus to put a face to a resume.
LinkedIn Profile Picture (Originally Posted: 01/10/2010)
I just recently started setting up my LinkedIn profile and I'm noticing that the vast majority of people don't have a profile picture.
Is this standard protocol? Or is it because most people aren't very active on LinkedIn?
For those who do have pictures, I am noticing that the older, more established members have professional pictures of themselves in suits for a photoshoot, whereas for the younger kids like me in college, they're more informal.
I was wondering.. whether it's a good idea to upload a picture. Would it necessarily 'hurt' my profile if I had a picture? The one I had in mind is simply my facebook profile pic: me smiling.
I'm mainly concerned because I plan on using linkedin to do some networking and I want to have the look of a more complete profile.
Thanks!
Unlike facebook a picture on linkedin isn't a must have. I think a lot of people just never get around to putting one up. If you do decide to put a picture up just make sure it is professional. It isn't a big deal if you don't have one though.
I think it's a very good idea to have your face shot. But questionable pictures should be avoided, such as you engaging in binge drinking or an orgy or looking like a criminal. I've uploaded one from a recent photo shoot in Moscow.
Aren't those two statements kind of contradictory?
Good point. Even (soft-core) porn stars Kosher LinkedIn pics.
