SIE exam timeline
I've been studying for the SIE using Knopman Marks for about a month, averaging an hour a day or so..but more hrs/day now that I have to test soon. I read the textbook and am going through their online videos... I have an economics/finance background in college.
How long did it take you guys to study for and pass the exam?
Studied and passed with about 1.5-2 hours a day for a month. The SIE is a joke if you have a finance background
i have a finance background in that i majored in econ and finance, but its my first job. Been reviewing the material though and a lot of stuff (ie specific info on regulations etc) I never learned before. haha sounds good though!
Yeah I just took it before starting this past summer and I studied way too much for it. The 63 and 79 are much more worth putting your time towards once you get the materials and closer To starting
Studied about an hour or two a day for a week and passed. Shouldn’t be difficult with finance background
wow that's impressive! Some of the material though regarding a lot of detailed and specific info I've never learned in my classes. im treating studying as a job for the next week and will take it in a week. using Knopman Marks
Hey did you take the SIE online? Planning to take it soon and was going to do it online but I just saw the camera requirements and don't know if it's worth the effort vs just doing it in person (nearest site is pretty far from me). If anyone has any thoughts itd be greatly appreciated
SIE is super easy. 2 hours a day for a week is all you need
thats good news. How did you study for it? I have some knowledge, but i realize its more in depth with regulations, and other specific questions. So far I've read most of the textbook and now doing the videos and practice exams.
We get it already. You're a Econ/Fin major. Stop mentioning it on every fucking reply.
My apologies-- it wasn't intentional. I just wanted clarification on whether coming from finance a background meant what you studied or a recent job you had, cuz a chunk of the SIE info to me I didn't learn in my classes.
shut up retard
I run Achievable and we've published a few charts on how long you should study for the SIE based on a year of actual data.
The short answer is: study time varies tremendously based on your prior experience and natural inclination towards the material.
Most test prep providers recommend about 50 hours of course time and at least a month to prepare.
Achievable's course takes about 20-30 hours since it uses adaptive learning to get better results faster.
Here's a link to our SIE course in partnership with WSO; the first chapter is free so you can try it out!
Knopman’s questions are so close to the real ones across all of the exams I’ve taken that you just need to keep doing Knopman’s until your score is passing then viola.
PLEASE STOP WORRYING. Any idiot with a double digit IQ and no finance/economics background can pass SIE in less than a week. Spending 50 hours on it would be a complete waste and overkill. (Would be the same as studying 50 hours for your driver's license test - personally I found the DL test (memorizing traffic rules and road signs) to be more challenging) I studied for a day and passed. I'd say 8-10 hours would be more than enough. It is laughable even for WSO to see some folks on this forum trying to pump it up and sell online courses.
