SIE Practice Test vs the Real Thing
Before studying for the SIE exam, I took the practice test on the FINRA website and got 30/75 (40%) as my baseline. After a few days of minimal studying, I scored 62/75 (83%), mainly because I just remembered the correct answers from the first attempt.
The question is, how similar is the practice to the real thing? I'm confident that after two more attempts, I can score 100's every time just because they ask the same questions. If I can achieve a 100% on the practice test, can I reasonably expect to get at least a 70% on the real thing? If not, I at least have the Kaplan materials I can keep studying through.
It’s easy. Mostly plain definitions. Think: which of the following describes a Greenshoe: answer: 15% overallcoation. it’s pretty much a matching the terms to definitions exam. If I remember correctly, no calculations. if u study for s7 that’s most similar to 79 since most of the content is repeated and some new.
Thanks!
Take an exam with different questions. If you pass that, you’ll be fine but you don’t want to just memorize the 75 questions because it could end very poorly for you.
Good point. I’ll check out Kaplan’s tests as well.
I’d recommend studying the legal sections, definitions, financial planning, and any other sections you know your not comfortable. I passed my SIE like two weeks ago. I kinda thought the actual exam was harder than the practice exams but maybe that’s just me
