Simon-Kucher, Altman Solon and Advancy

Hello everyone,

I interviewed with these three firms (Altman Solon, Simon-Kucher & Partners and Advancy) but I have difficulties ranking them. How would you rank them for an internship in order to apply at MBB next year? And in order to work (long run).

Thank you very much in advance!

Do you have offers from all of these shops? If not the question is kind of moot . I’ve had friends get offers at places you’d think of as better than the shops you’ve mentioned , but no offers from those shops, so focus on getting the offers before picking

Same, I got multiple MBBs but no Altman...Altman did 1 round only, had a ton of interviewees and had a bunch of interviewers though so I kinda think their process was a bit flawed.

Eh, still a worthwhile question. Shouldn’t count your chickens before they hatch but making an informed decision on the front end so you can allocate networking/prep time and chart your next move is probably smart for most folks when there are dozens of good firms out there

Never heard of advancy. SKP and Altman are pretty similar, though I'd say that it goes to Altman. I really depends, however, on what you're interested in. Altman works primarily in the TMT space, while SKP is thought of as the leader in pricing/ "the unicorn advisor", and also strong in healthcare. Ive seen people go from both to MBB, so would advise to go to whichever fits your interests better.

Based on industry knowledge and reputation I would say SKP>Solon=Advancy. SKP is pricing focused as someone already mentioned, Solon is focused on strategy for the TMT sector and Advancy is a well known French consultancy focused on multiple sectors. As far as brand name goes, most people would know SKP but the skills learned at the other two may be more transferrable to MBB. If you're not dead set on TMT then go for Advancy

Solon is def better than SKP. It isn't nearly as well known, but its a powerhouse in TMT. Their recent merger def solidified them as the best TMT house in the world. Exit ops from there into PE are really solid as well as into industry. That said, if you aren't fairly sure that you'll like TMT, I wouldn't go to Solon. Also, Solon primarily hires from a core set of Ivys and MIT and a few other top targets for consulting. I know a lot of people go there as interns and migrate to MBB for full time, fwiw.

of those three, altman or simon kutcher. simon kutcher is bigger but altman seems to have better exit ops

ya i'd probably go altman unless you're into healthcare
