SimpleShortcuts Excel Add-In
When I switched jobs from a bulge bracket investment bank to a middle market private equity fund, I found myself without the great Excel shortcuts that I had at my prior job where we used DealMaven. Unable to find a cheap alternative to DealMaven, I finally caved and created the following little Excel add-in that does everything I need. Please feel free to download a copy if you're interested. Hope it's helpful!

SimpleShortcuts Excel Add-In is a free Excel add-in that helps people quickly and easily format spreadsheets using easy to remember hotkey keyboard shortcuts.
Thats pretty cool man. Thanks for providing the link. Last summer as a SA I took advantage the custom keyboard shortcuts and am dramatically slower without them (not to mention too lazy to program them in myself).
When I first started in PE after leaving MBB, I found myself without the Dealmaven add-in and felt like a heroin addict going through withdrawal when trying to use Excel. Everything I did took twice as long, and the formatting looked like shit.
I immediately paid up for a new license and convinced HR to reimburse me (it's now included as a standard add-in for all new hires), but the idea of creating your own custom shortcuts is another route I suppose.
Could some of the more experienced guys post what else they use to make their work with Excel quicker and more effective? Dealmaven and what else? Any other add-ins, anything else? Does anyone use ASAP Utilities??
Yeah i've always wanted to know what other analysts out there do / use to make the day go by quicker?
code your own macros: autohotkey (open source software) another free excel addin: http://www.wallst-training.com/WSTMacrosAdd-In.zip
im use to the WST addin, but ill try out simpleshortcuts.
I'll give the SimpleShortcuts and WST a try - how much is a license for DealMaven? Looks like a great suite of products that would be very helpful.
Hey guys! I've received so much feedback on SimpleShortcuts that I added the ability for users to customize the hotkeys to their personal preferences. Hope this is helpful!

Alternatively, you could try Macabacus Macros. It has far more features and customizable shortcuts than SimpleShortcuts, and is very similar to DealMaven for those who used it. You could probably call it "ComplexShortcuts", as it's clearly built for Excel power users.
Like SimpleShortcuts, Macabacus is free. You can get it at http://macabacus.com/excel/macros.
yeah...i just use the capiq plug in
This is awesome! Thanks so much for your works on this.
