Skills for hedge funds
Hi all,
I am considering an MBA after a 3-4 year stint at a consulting firm (Top Tier, my work has been focused on focused on private equity and restructuring). I would want to use the MBA to pivot into the investing space preferably a Hedge fund, however I realize this is a very difficult pivot.
I am most interested in Quant, Macro and Activist
Now, I still have 1-2 years before leaving consulting to do an MBA so I would be interested in your opinion on:
1) What kind of fund would be best suited/most likely to accept a former consultant
2) What types of skills should I build BEFORE starting the MBA (I am thinking along the lines of 'learn Python', 'learn about specific industries', 'learn all there is to learn about Macro' etc.
Is there any skill in massive demand right now that might get people to give me a chance?
Thanks
