So disheartening.

So defer a semester then.
I have sympathy for you mate. I really do. But there’s no point wallowing in it. Just do what you have to do to get to where you want to go. The universe isn’t going to undo your bad luck just because you feel bad about it.
This may come across as brash, so here’s some context from personal experience: I missed about 3 years of school due to a disease. Fell incredibly behind as a result. Worked my arse off to finish with good marks at the same time as everyone else, and to get to where I am today.
Be thankful you still have your vision. Use your deferred semester to brush up on your skills and your hobbies. Research more about your career path. View this as an opportunity to hit the ground running at incredible speeds when you do start. Plus, if anything, interviewers will love an adversity story like yours (as cynical as that might sound).
Best of luck.
That sucks. I have terrible vision and can't wait for LASIK. Priotize your health!
Never been in that situation but I wish you the best brother. I know it’s probably easier said than done but keep your head up and crush everything you can possible do right now that’s in your control.
I can definitely relate. This is one of the best posts that I have seen so far! Cheers.
You got this. Keep on pushing, and everything will work out for you in the end.
