So what's the right amount to spend?

Just curious what the "proper" amount to spend on certain items is. What's a smart percentage of your income to spend on a car, or an apartment a month? Consider that you're trying to live below your means and save a fair percentage of your income.

One general rule of thumb for housing is not to drop more than 1/3 or your take-home pay per month on an apartment. Some people are willing to go over that, but again, just a general guideline.

I am permanently behind on PMs, it's not personal.

I blow all my money one paycheck in advance, so that if I get fired I have enough to eat for a month, can sleep in my car, and pay off my bills.

Forget saving money, the world ends in a year.

Still not sure if I want to spend the next 30+ years grinding away in corporate finance and the WSO dream chase or look to have enough passive income to live simply and work minimally.
