Solo holiday to Paris
Mid December I am going on my first ever solo holiday. I have never done one before.
Does anyone have any tips?
I'm staying right near the Arc de Triomphe
My plan is to do cultural things during the day such as visiting museums and art galleries. I plan on spending my nights partying and meet the women.
Fly to other places in Europe. It’s usually really cheap, if you have enough time don’t go to just one city.
Hmmm I don't know about going to Paris alone. Ever seen Taken? One minute you're enjoying a croissant by the Tour Eiffel and the next you're being auctioned off as a sex slave to Armenian millionaires.
I highly recommend a stroll down the Champs-Elysees while you're there, ideally in the evening as the Christmas market is at its jolliest then.
The Louvre is great, and well worth a visit if you enjoy art, but there are a lot of other spectacular and less frequented art museums in Paris (Musee de Cluny, Petit Palais, etc). My favorite is Musee d'Orsay.
Napoleon's tomb at the Musee de l'Armee is also a pretty neat thing to do. The grandeur of the place will almost make you forget that Napoleon was a warmongering pseudo-monarch bent on conquering all of Europe and establishing an empire to rival that of Rome.
I typically also recommend Notre Dame but I haven't been to Paris since it was damaged and am unsure whether it is open to visitors. In any case, l'Ile de la Cite is also a pretty nice part of the city to wander around.
Probably my all time favorite thing to do in Paris is quite simply just walking around some of the nicer arrondissements (18th, 20th, 2nd and 3rd).
Other miscellaneous things to look into: - Sacre Coeur - Galleries Lafayette - Grands Boulevard - Going to the top of the Eiffel Tower
Have a fun trip!
Thanks for this.
Wander. Get lost. Poke into shops/museums/random places. Put away google maps. Ask for directions. Smile. Say thank you. Eat. Drink. Enjoy. Do what you want (Ie. If you are tired one day or don’t want to party and want to have a lie in - do it). Start up random conversations and don’t be afraid to say yes to random things. You never know who you will meet or the experiences you will have.
Have fun!
Good Luck
Sacre Coeur, Louvre, Musee d'Orsay, Cathacombes, Arc, Versailles, Tour Eiffel, Jardin du Luxembourg, Les Invalides are must.. Gallerie Lafayette and Place Vendome too.. Regarding clubs I'd advise Medellin, Arc, Rasputin, VIP (even if I heard very different opinions about VIP)
This is so useful thanks.
