You could always get a place out in the woods and be more like Ron Swanson.
Do it. Why not?
I agree there is something appealing about old-world craftsmanship. I recently got into leathermaking and it is so rewarding being able to use the items I've made (shoes, wallets, messenger bag, etc.).
I'd highly recommend picking up a hobby where you make things, feels really good.

Yeah its pretty cool stuff - my sister got her masters in product design there and it was a joint program between product design and mechanical engineering. Really impressive people. Very cool designs.
This is nerdy AF but there are a lot of cool people making cool stuff at Renaissance fairs - glassblowing, blacksmithing, woodworking, leather making, weaving, jewelry making. Whenever the pandemic is over I suggest checking one out if you're interested in crafting.
I also visited the Getty last year at a time when a blacksmithing company was doing a live demo. The company makes a lot of the practical armor and weapons used in television shows and movies like LOTR, GOT, The Witcher, Vikings etc. Watched them make chainmail from scratch. Very cool.
Yeah I'm into highly specialized skilled manual labor. Each craft is amazing!
you say that now but what happens when you get your first booboo and the winters are cold?
Sometimes I just want to be an elite male escort. Not a gigalo, an escort.
