Sophomore Year Summer Non-BB Options - What to do?

Hey all,

So, like many others, I went through the IB/Banking/Finance internship process with a lot of the big name banks on the street for sophomore year internships, and didn't really get any offers as of now. I'm obvious still waiting on some and would love to get one, but I'm looking to plan ahead with some things for sophomore summer if I don't get any. I've got a couple of things in mind/in the pipeline or I'm currently waiting on with better hopes, and would love you guys' inputs on the strengths and weaknesses of them and which ones would be good for going in IB (and maybe secondarily consulting, but that's not as much my focus):

  • Technology @ an Asset Management company (pretty dope opportunity, but I'm worried that doing more tech-ish roles might not be viewed well by future IB recruiters, good pay apparently too)
  • Summer Analyst @ College Endowment Fund (not great pay, but would pretty cool to check out and learn about investment management that way)
  • Business Development or Tech Role at a Startup (I've done some work at a startup before, and it would be fun for me to do this, but probably not the best career-wise)
  • Venture Capital fellowship-like role (I'd be able to help out a VC firm, but this is a super competitive program so I'm not 100% sure I can get it. Would be cool since I love VC)
  • Coding/Tech role at some random smaller company

A decent chunk of these are kind of tech-related because I have decent coding experience from freshman/pre-college work on the side. Out of these, how do my options compare? I'm currently leaning towards the Tech @ AM, but I'm not sure because its kind of an indirect finance role.
